Can we all acknowledge the fact that hair dye is expensive as fuck, especially if you want to have decently healthy hair after you dye it or you have curly hair (like me) and need good quality shit to prevent weird ass looking color and frizz for the gods. Like you can get $3-ish dye but like it will turn your hair into those like fucking rich-people dog-rat things, soooo. To save all my fellow broke people i’m going to teach you babes how to make your own dye for really cheap and not kill your hair.
Things You Need:
-A few markers or gel pens in the colors you want *NOT WASHABLE MARKERS AS THEY WILL WASH OUT ON THE FIRST GO*(if you can’t find the exact color you can mix a bunch)
-Conditioner (Any kind you want but usually use cheap stuff for dye)
-Containers
-Water
-Isopropyl alcohol *NOT HIGH PERCENTAGE LIKE 50%* (not necessary, but it make it fade less)
Total Cost: At got everything at places like dollar tree and Walmart in bigger quantities than needed (so I can make more than one batch) and this still only cost me $4.56 in comparison high end dyes can go for up to $20
What to do:
1. De-ink your pen/marker, by removing the ink cartridge and squeezing the ink out (for markers) or removing the metal pen bit and pushing a bobby pin through the cartridge (for pens) and empty ink into a container.
2. After you get the color you want this is when you add your alcohol or essential oils (if you want to use them) and your conditioner, i usually just eyeball the ratios and add in small increments to get the look I want
3. Mix throughly and add water for consistency, then use a paintbrush, your fingers or a dye brush to apply
4. At this point you have two options either clip your hair up and wrap it overnight (If you don’t have a wrap you can use an old t-shirt or scarf, literally anything besides a towel or something with a similar texture) or blow dry.
5. Leave the dye in for like a day-ish (just brush out to combat the greasy look) to deepen color before washing it out with COLD WATER and NON-DANDRUFF shampoo
6. Enjoy your fabulous hair!
A quiet girls guide for how to stand out
I was the type of girl who would blend in, never talk, and never be seen. I’ve always been that way until I joined my first school sport. When I joined my sport we would have to dress up on meet days, participate in pep rally’s, and take lots of team pictures that would end up on the school websites and social media. Throughout this entire experience people would start to remember my name and face and I actually started to like not having to remind people what my name was. Here is my quiet girls guide of how to get more well known:
1. Change your wardrobe/more color.
My closet consisted of so many colors and styles of clothing and yet I continued to wear nothing but jeans, a black/dark blue/grey top, and a dark colored hoodie every single day. As soon as I started wearing a wider range of colors and clothing styles people started to notice me.
2. Try new hairstyles.
As you can probably tell from my previous posts on my blog, I have naturally curly hair. Although I had this type of hair I only kept my hair in a tight bun or tight braids to try and hide my hair type. Never try to hide what you have. Curly or straight hair, you can go on Pinterest or YouTube and find new hairstyles to try. (For my curly girls out there: I am willing to do a post of all my favorite curly girl youtubers if you’d like)
3. Makeup.
Not everyone likes makeup. If you don’t then don’t wear it. If you’re just starting out then just start with simple ideas such as lipgloss and mascara. Makeup is not an essential to make you stand out but some people do love makeup. Do whatever is comfortable for you.
4. Smile more.
This is probably the most important thing in my guide. Smiling makes you look more approachable and helps you to look like a more open person. I know lots of people (including me) have a serious rbf that we usually can’t control. It just happens. That rbf can scare some people off or make you look more intimidating, you don’t have to constantly smile so much that your face hurts but one or two simple smiles at some people can make a huge difference.
5. Talk.
This was my biggest struggle when I first started out. Honestly I still struggle with this a few years later. Starting a conversation with someone can be very difficult and so can continuing a conversation as well. As long as you push yourself to start talking a bit more you will become more used to it later on. Some people take longer than others, just do what’s comfortable for you and move from there.
I know this is a small list of things to do but these are honestly all anyone needs. Just doing one of these will help if you want to be noticed more. This list is not about getting popular in school or anything like that, this is just to help my fellow introverts to maybe make some new friends if they want. Happy blogging! <3
